Meta’s new shopping agent can pay at a million businesses that already take Stripe’s wallet, and everywhere else it gets a card number that works once. Stripe announced on September 8 that Muse can pay using Link, its saved-payment wallet: instant checkout at the more than 1 million businesses that accept Link, with a U.S. consumer’s stored payment method. For every other business, Stripe says, “Link issues Muse a single-use virtual card scoped to the approved purchase.”
That second sentence is the one to read twice. A one-time card number, good for one approved amount at one merchant, rides the same card rails a restaurant or a hotel already runs. You approve the purchase; the agent spends.
What the page doesn’t say is whether you, the merchant, can see that a card came from an agent, or refuse it.
