Tab launches a texting AI assistant at a $300 million valuation
What changed
Tab, a personal AI assistant, said on October 6 that it had emerged from stealth at a $300 million valuation, TechCrunch reports. Users text it on iMessage or WhatsApp for tasks such as ordering groceries or finding birthday presents. Ammar Amdani told TechCrunch it has its own phone number, computer and wallet; he, Brennan Erbz and Stafford Schlitt started working on it earlier this year. Investors in the round include SV Angel, Valar Ventures and American Spirit; Tab declined to share the exact funding details. Amdani said growth is mostly by word of mouth and a new product is coming soon. He also said user data is never used to train AI, the card sits in a vault Tab itself never sees, and nothing that can be undone happens without the user's yes. TechCrunch lists no user numbers.
