Stripe's Link wallet lets Meta's Muse check out instantly at over a million businesses
What changed
On September 8, Stripe announced that Meta has integrated Link's wallet for agents with Muse. US consumers can connect a Link account to Muse and let it buy from businesses across the internet. At more than 1 million businesses that accept Link, a count Stripe supplies, Muse can check out instantly with a US consumer's preferred payment method saved in Link; for other businesses, Link issues Muse a single-use virtual card scoped to the approved purchase. Stripe says consumers approve the transaction total in the chat for every purchase and Muse never sees their underlying payment details. Stripe's April 29 post on the wallet says credentials can be scoped by amount, currency and merchant, that each request needs the person's review today, and that spending limits and acting without approval are planned. Stripe also says Link's agent wallet helps power payments for Grok Bot and Instinct.
Why it matters here
Our read: Stripe describes two routes, so a valley restaurant, contractor or shop would not have to accept Link for a Muse user to pay it; at other businesses Link issues a single-use card. The sources do not say whether a business has to do anything else, can tell that a payment came from an agent, or can decline one.
One question worth testing
If a customer's AI agent paid you tomorrow with a single-use card, would your payment dashboard show that it came from an agent?

Not confirmed by us
- This is Stripe describing its own product. The 'more than 1 million businesses' figure is Stripe's count, and we did not test the wallet or any purchase. Stripe's September post covers US consumers only.
- Neither Stripe post says whether a merchant can see that a payment came from an agent, or refuse it; Stripe says only that it is helping businesses accept payments from agents with confidence. The April post describes visibility and fraud controls for businesses that issue their own agent cards, which is the card issuer's side, not the merchant's.
- Stripe's statement that its wallet helps power Grok Bot and Instinct is Stripe's; we did not confirm it with either company, and the posts we read do not describe those arrangements. Stripe's two posts give different Link user counts (200 million in April, 300 million in September); we used neither.
